When dogs get bored, they may display negative behaviors such as chewing and destroying items around the home. It’s important to have different methods of stimulation for your dog to keep them busy. Even zoos use toys such as puzzles or chew toys to keep animals busy.
Dog toys encourage your pet to inquire and study about the external environment. Dogs have to face various mental and physical efforts to get food in the wild. But the situation is different when they are kept as pets. Through toys and playing, your dog is stimulated by questioning, activity, and consequently, his health is strengthened.
You can make your own dog toys to sharpen your dog’s skills and keep him busy.
Here are some DIY Dog toys which you can easily make by using items around your home.
Sock Ball Tug
When a sock becomes old, it is wasted but it can be useful for your dog. Just put a ball into a used sock. Now tie a knot in the sock as close to the ball as possible. For having more fun, use a squeaker ball.
Dog Chew Or Cat Kicker
All dogs like chewing because it helps exercise their jaws and clean their teeth, and it doesn't let them get bored.
Bottle Spinning Toy
This is one of another spin on the favored treat-dispensing games – something which has been proven to keep dogs occupied and actively finding the way to get that treat out for several hours.
To make this spinning bottle, just take a thread and plastic bottle and then make a hole in the top of the bottle and pass the thread through it. Now, stitch/stick the thread to some higher place where your dog can jump and try to catch the bottle.
Soda Bottle Treat Dispenser
This interactive toy will act as a brain teaser for your dog. Some of the important things which you need to make this toy are a chicken ware nesting box, two-liter soda bottles, and PVC pipe. After collecting these things, drill holes in the box.
After you are done, hang treat-filled bottles from the pipe. If you want to match it to your home decor then simply spray paint.
No-Sew Heart Toy
Everyone wants to give love to their pets, so why not give a heart-shaped toy to them?
Take a fleece fabric and arrange its two layers on each other. Now draw a heart onto them and cut the fabric according to the shape. While cutting the fabric you will have to leave two-inch of space around so that you can double tie the sides. So tie it and fill it with some fleece.
T-Shirt Rope Toy
That old t-shirt can be the next new toy for your dog. Long strips of t-shirt material can be used to braid the yarn into a toy with the help of the Scoubidou Technique.
Feeder Toy
Using PVC pipe, this toy will help you to keep your dog busy as he tries to get the treats inside.
Towel Tug Toy
You can bring a new life to your old towels by converting them into a great toy for your dog. Take a towel and cut three strips of it, those strips should be almost 12 inches long and 5 inches wide.
After this, you will have to cut small towel strips which can be 6 inches long and 1 inch wide. Now tie the long strips with the short ones. Then braid it and take another strip to tie to the end. Your dog will love to play with this quick DIY braid.
